Background:
Luciel is approximately six thousand years old, and has spent most of that time either fighting demons or watching humans -- not as a First Choir "Watcher" angel would do, guarding a single human lifetime, but as a documentarian would, observing various examples of the human condition. It wasn't until a human mage of his acquaintance, Geoffrey Levalier, adopted a young boy as an apprentice that he undertook the role of guardian angel. He did so first simply out of his respect for Levalier, but over time, he grew truly fond of his charge, and is now proud to be Devin's guide, partner, and friend.
